Tracing the origin and evolution of supergene mimicry in butterflies

Supergene mimicry is a striking phenomenon but we know little about the evolution of this trait in any species. To trace the origin and evolution of supergene mimicry, genomic DNA was extracted from 31 wild-caught adult butterflies using a phenol-chloroform DNA extraction protocol. Illumina paired-end libraries were constructed and sequenced using an Illumina Hiseq2500.
