Morphology, structure and corrosion resistance of TiO2 layers fabricated on Ti-6Al-4V alloy in deep eutectic solvents by potentiostatic anodization

Dataset contains raw measurement files collected during:1) dc polarization measurements,2) SEM / FIB microscopic analyses3) TEM analyses4) STEM analysesof dual-phase Ti-6Al-4V titanium alloy with oxide layers formed during anodizing process in a deep eutectic solvent (DES composed of choline dihydrogencitrate salt and oxalic acid) at 60 °C. The study showed using HR-TEM microscopy that anodic polarization forms TiO2 layers with a complex, bilayer morphology with not very numerous pores. With the increase of anodizing voltage from 10 V through 50 V to 90 V, the thickness of fabricated layers increases from 30 through 90 to 200 nm. The layer formed at intermediate voltage (50 V) is nanocrystalline and made of anatase (tetragonal TiO2). Corrosion resistance measurements showed that the anodic layers produced have distinct passive properties and provide a low current density in the anodic polarization range after 50-days of exposure in a Ringer solution.Details about file naming, related sample materials, experimental conditions, software for data processing, are described in the "readme.txt" file. For electrochemical measurements, the Notepad application is sufficient to access the ASCII data which allow to plot the graphs. Moreover, for electrochemical measurements, detailed measurement parameters and hardware details are available in each .DTA file. They can also be read directly from .DTA files using the notepad application or another simple text editor. For SEM / FIB / TEM microscopic analyses no specific software is neccessary to open the raw microphotographs.
