The bacterial community associated with Halyomorpha halys was evaluated using both DNA and cDNA (synthesized from RNA) extracted from the insect. The insects were sampled at the II instar and the total body sterilized before to proceed with DNA/RNA extractions. Microbiological analyses were performed on both DNA and cDNA using high-throughput sequencing of 16S rRNA gene. Investigation of the overall bacterial community composition and the evaluation of the Candidatus Pantoea carbekii (primary symbiont) presence were also conducted.
