资源简介:
The purpose of an admission register was to record basic details about children admitted to the school, and about their parents or guardians. The registers were also used to record the progress of the children through various classes and the date of their leaving the school. The series from the Waratah Orthopaedic Hospital School is currently represented by a single volume, the first of the series, which records enrolments from the opening of the school until March, 1960, and the progress of some pupils until the 31st January, 1961. This volume contains information pertaining to each pupil including: date of admission; pupil's name, date of birth and religious denomination; name of previous school and date of leaving. The following details are recorded about the child's parents or guardians: name, residence and occupation. The pupil's date of admission to each subsequent grade, if applicable, and date of leaving the school are also recorded. The volume, as printed, makes provision to record any occupation entered into on leaving school, but as this scarcely applies in the present case this column has been used intermittently to record pupils’ destinations on release from hospital.Girls and boys are listed on opposite pages in order of admission, and numbered in separate sequences. At the beginning of 1944 the numbering begins anew.An opening has been left unused between these two sequences noting “Coutts Memorial Home / transferred to / Orthopaedic Hospital Waratah 1.2.44.”Admission registers in paper format ceased in 1999 when the department moved to recording enrolment details in electronic format.
