Total take-up office space in largest Dutch municipalities in Netherlands 2010-2019

The total take-up of office space in Amsterdam, Rotterdam, The Hague and Utrecht (Netherlands) from 2012 to 2019 (in thousand square meters of lettable floor area) varied. In 2019, approximately 366,000 square meters were taken up in Amsterdam. The performance of the European office real estate market is strongly connected to the development of its domestic economies. As the economy of the European Union has shown signs of recovery, more and more companies showed their readiness to pay the right price for a new office building. Indeed, in the first quarter of 2016 approximately 43 percent of the European real estate transaction volume consisted of transactions in office properties, reaching a total transaction volume of approximately 20.6 billion euros.
