A collection of Jâmi’s prose-works.
This large and beautifully written collection is introduced by a few preliminary lines, on ff. 2b and 3a, beginning:حمدى كه لوائح اشعۀ لمعات معرفتش دل گوشه نشینان الخ, and contains:
1.تفسير سورة فاتحة الكتاب, a commentary on the first Sûrah of the Ḳurân, on fol. 3b, beginning: بسم الله الرّحمن الرّحيم ربّ وفّق بالاتمام الحمدلله ربّ العالمين من الاوّلين الاقدمين الخ ; see G. Flügel iii. p. 375, No. 8.
2.ترجمۀ منظومۀ چهل حدیث. A paraphrase in Persian verses, of forty sayings of Muḥammad, on fol. 10a, beginning:صحيح ترين حديثى كه راويان مجالس دين الخ. It was composed A.H. 886 (A.D. 1481), see Bodleian Cat., No. 894, 20; No. 895, 14; and Rieu i. p. 17, and ii. p. 828, No. i.
3.رسالۀ مناسک حجّ, on the rites of the pilgrimage, on fol. 12a, beginning:الحمد لله الذى جعل الكعبة البيت الحرام الخ. Composed A.H. 877 (A.D. 1472, 1473); see Bodleian Cat., No. 894, 26; No. 895, 16; and W. Pertsch, Berlin Cat., p. 166, No. 21.
4.رسالۀ درّ فاخر (or الدرّة الفاخرة ), usually called رساله فى تحقيق مذهب الصوفيّة, on the definition of Ṣûfism, on fol. 23b, beginning:بسم الله الرّحمن الرّحيم و به الثقة الحمد لله الذى تجلّى بذاته لذاته الخ ; see Bodleian Cat., No. 894, 25; No. 895, 15; G. Flügel iii. p. 409; Ḥ. Khalfa iii. p. 207, No. 4952.
5.رساله فى الوجود, with its full title: رسالۀ وجیزه در تحقيق واثبات واجب الوجود, proof for and definition of the absolute, on fol. 30b, beginning: الوجود اى ما بانضمامه الى الماهيّات الخ ; see Bodleian Cat., No. 894, 24.
6.كتاب شواهد النبوّة, the evidence of Muḥammad’s divine mission, on fol. 31b, beginning:بسم الله الرّحمن الرّحيم الحمد لله الذى ارسل رسلاً الخ . 7.رسالۀ طریق توجّه خواجها, on the mystic road, on fol. 118b, beginning:سر رشتۀ دولت اى برادر بكف آر الخ.

8.كتاب نفحات الانس, the famous Ṣûfic biographies, on fol. 119b, beginning:بسم الله الرّحمن الرّحيم و به ثقتى الحمد لله الذى جعل مراتی قلوب اوليائه الخ. This work contains here 612 biographies; beginning with Abû Hâshim alṣûfî, and ending with an anonymous Persian Lady (امراة فارسيّة). 9.شرح فصوص الحكم, on fol. 278b. A commentary on Ibn al-’Arabî’s (died A.H. 638 = A.D. 1240, 1241) mystic work, the فصوص الحكم, see G. Flügel iii. p. 333 sq., where also several commentaries are described, and Ḥ. Khalfa iv. p. 424, No. 9073; beginning: بسم الله الرّحمن الرّحيم الحمد لله الذى زيّن خواتم قلوب اولى الهمم بفصوص نصوص الخ. Composed A.H. 896 (A.D. 1491).
10.نقد النصوص فى شرح نقش الفصوص, a commentary on the نقش النصوص, the extract which Ibn al-’Arabî himself made from his فصوص الحكم, on fol. 337b, beginning:بسم الله الرّحمن الرّحيم الحمد لله الذى جعل صفائح قلوب ذوى الهمم الخ. 19.شرح بيت امير خسرو, commentary on a verse of Amîr Khusrau Dihlawî (see above, Nos. 1186-1221), on fol. 531b, beginning: يا من لا ربّ غيره الخ ; see Bodleian Cat., No. 894, 18; No. 895, 9; W. Pertsch, Berlin Cat., p. 166, No. 8.
20.رسالۀ تهلیليّه, on the formula ‘there is no God but Allâh,’ on fol. 532b, beginning: من طلب البرء من البارى الخ. It is also styled رسالۀ لا اله الّا الله, see A. Sprenger, Catal., p. 448, l. 1.
21.صرف منظوم و منثور, on Arabic inflexions, on fol. 533b, beginning:صرف اللّسان الخ.
22.شرح كافيۀ نحو, an Arabic commentary on the كافيه of Ibn-alḥâjib (died A.H. 646=A.D. 1248, 1249), usually styled الفوائد الضيائيّة, on fol. 538b, beginning: الحمد لوليّه و الصّلوة على نبيّه الخ. Composed A.H. 897 (A.D. 1492), see Bodleian Cat., No. (894, 2; and No. 970; G. Flügel i. p. 167; Cat. des MSS. et Xylographes, p. 158, No. 64; printed Calcutta, 1818, Constantinople, 1820; lithographed, Lucknow, as شرح ملاّ جامى, 1887; the glosses of Muḥarram Efendî to the first part of this commentary, entitled كتاب المحرّم فى حاشية جامى, were printed, Constantinople, A.H. 1226 (A.D. 1811); a حاشيۀ شرح ملاّ جامى also appeared, Lucknow, 1879 and 1880. ‘Abd-alghafûr al-Lâri’s (see below in No. 1362) glosses to Jâmî’s commentary are noticed in G. The first treatise is dated A.H. 960 (A.D. 1553); the third, Rabî’-alawwal, A.H. 968 (A.D. 1560, Nov.-Dec.); the sixth, the last of Muḥarram, A.H. 979 (A.D. 1571, June 24); the eighth, the 14th of Rajab, A.H. 980 (A.D. 1572, Nov. 20); the fourteenth, the 7th of Rabî’-alawwal, A.H. 968 (?perhaps 986?).
