Skin denticle diversity in the giant manta and the lesser devil ray: a three-dimensional analysis

Our study characterizes the dermal denticle morphology of two mobulid ray species (order Myliobatiformes, family Myliobatidae): Mobula birostris (giant manta ray) and Mobula hypostoma (lesser devil ray). Denticle morphology in both species was analyzed using micro–computed tomography (micro-CT) datasets and high-resolution imaging. This repository contains the raw, unprocessed data associated with the study, including: - Images of all specimens of Mobula birostris and sampled regions - Measurement datasets, including denticle density and morphometric calculations for all analyzed denticles in both specimens
