Monthly grocery prices in Rome, Italy

The data for this study were collected daily from a prominent grocery e-commerce platform between November 2020 and April 2024. The data source is a local retail consortium operating in the Rome metropolitan area, commanding a substantial market share of approximately and generating revenue exceeding 2.7 billion euros in 2023. This retailer maintains an extensive physical presence through a network of more than 190 stores throughout the region, making it a significant player in the local retail ecosystem. The complete dataset comprises more than 17,000 unique products spanning 153 distinct commercial categories, offering a comprehensive basis for examining pricing patterns and promotional behaviors in the online grocery retail environment. From this dataset, we selected 12 commercial categories - encompassing 4,106 unique products - for our primary analysis. This reduced dataset is published here.
