Motivvergleich umwelt- und gesundheitsrelevanten Verhaltens: Beschreibung eines Projekts

Im vorliegenden Bericht werden die Fragestellungen und Ziele eines Forschungsprojekts zum Motivvergleich umwelt- und gesundheitsschützenden bzw. umwelt- und gesundheitsgefährdenden Verhaltens dargestellt. Die Krebsprävention bietet sich als sinnvolle Schnittstelle für diesen Motivvergleich an, da Umweltbelastungen zweifelsfrei eine wesentliche Ursache der hohen Krebsprävalenzrate sind. Es ist eine Fragebogenerhebung an einer vergleichsweise großen Stichprobe projektiert, in der Motive und motivationsrelevante Variablen umwelt- und krebsbezogener Bereitschaften und Verhaltensweisen ausgemacht und miteinander verglichen werden. Es werden unterschiedliche Varianten von Bereitschaften und tatsächlichen Verhaltensweisen gemessen (z.B. die Bereitschaft zur Unterstützung von Verboten, wie Erlaß weiterer Umweltschutzgesetze bezüglich der Schadstoffemissionen von Industrieunternehmen oder Erlaß von Rauchverbot in öffentlichen Gebäuden zur Förderung des allgemeinen Gesundheitsschutzes). Zur Erklärung der Bereitschaften und Verhaltensweisen werden selbstbezogene und moralbezogene Motive als auch soziale und situative Kontextvariablen erhoben, die sich auf den Umwelt- und Gesundheitsbereich beziehen. Sollte sich herausstellen, daß es gemeinsame Motive krebspräventiver und umweltschützender Bereitschaften gibt, ließen sich durch Förderung dieser Motive gesellschaftspolitisch bedeutsame Ziele des Gesundheits- und Umweltschutzes in einem Interventionsprogramm effizient integrieren. The following report presents the methods and goals of a research project designed for comparing the motives of environmental and health protective respectively environmental and health risk behavior. Cancer prevention offers itself as a useful intersection point for the comparison of these motives because environmental burdens, without a doubt, play a major role in todays high cancer rate. A questionnaire study on a comparatively large sample is planned in order to analyze and compare motives of and motivational variables relating to the willingness of environmental and cancer relevant commitments and behavior. Diverse forms of the readiness for and of the actual behaviors will be measured (e.g., the readiness to support prohibitive laws, such as environmental protection laws concerning industrial pollutant emissions or smoke prohibition in public buildings for the advancement of health protection in general). For the prediction of the commitments and behaviors, self-centered and morally relevant motives as well as the social and situational context variables, related to the environmental and health domain, are to be assessed. If underlying common motives of cancer preventive and proenvironmental commitments and behaviors exist, through enhancement of these motives the sociopolitical goal of health protection and pollution control could be efficiently integrated into one intervention program.
