X-ray timing and eclipse mapping study of the massive black hole binary IC 10 X1
收藏资源简介:
We propose a 124 ks XMMNewton observation of IC 10 X1, the most massive knownstellarmass black hole binary (black hole mass 2335 Msun). Our primary sciencegoals include : 1) To obtain highquality light curves that will enable us tosearch for the presence of mHz QPOs, measure the PDS, and compare the observedbehavior with that seen in a subsample of ULXs and Galactic systems of knownmass. This will enable us to assess the extent to which IC 10 X1 fits withinthe mass hierarchy of stellarmass black holes, and could provide further clueslinking ULXs to massive stellar black hole systems like IC 10 X1. 2) To obtaina high signaltonoise eclipse profile that will enable the rare opportunity todirectly map the size of the Xray source. truncated!, Please see actual data for full text [truncated!, Please see actual data for full text]
