Phylogenomic analyses of dicyemid mesozoan, Dicyema japonicum

The missing phylogenomic data of enigmatic taxa, such as dicyemid mesozoan, is a challenge to comprehend the animal evolution. The precise phylogenetic position of dicyemid mesozoan remains controversial, further leading to the indecision of spiralian evolution. However, previous phylogenetic analyses inferred from rRNA or innexin amino acid sequences could not provide a reliable conclusion. Therefore, we performed phylogenomic analyses using the transcriptome data of Dicyema japonicum.
