Barriers are structures with barriers in tidal waters intended to protect an area from elevated tides, especially storm surges.
A structure of the aforementioned type acquires the property of a barrier by dedication, which the dike authority pronounces by ordinance.
The provisions of the Lower Saxony Dike Act (NDG) apply to barrier structures.
