A control system for four variable frequency pumps in parallel of differential pressure control could be simplified, as shown in Fig. 1. Figure 2 shows the general characteristics for a new centrifugal pump. For a control system consisting of four parallel variable frequency pumps, the optimization procedure can be executed according to the logic shown in Fig. 3.The pump network structure and test rig of the parallel variable frequency pumps is shown in Fig. 4. Figure 5(a) shows a total of 26 sets of testing conditions for the totlal pump head and flow rate. Figure 5(b)-(e) shows a comparison of the results between primitive method, previous optimal method and new optimal method for various conditions, including the pump operation number, pump frequency, pump efficiency, total shaft power. Figure 5(f) shows the results of calculated total shaft power and measured output power of the frequency converter. Figure 5(g) shows the comparison of the non-dimension results between calculated and the measured energy saving.
