Perognathus mollipilosus, the Southern Great Basin Pocket Mouse, is distributed across the Great Basin into eastern California in desert scrub and woodland habitats along the eastern side of the Sierra Nevada, into the Modoc Plateau, and west to the Shasta Valley. Although not of conservation concern, California populations represent the western edge of this broadly distributed species. Samples for this biosample cover its range in California..
