Salivary microbiome of Japanese patients with multiple sclerosis. human metagenome

Salivary samples of 111 patients with multiple sclerosis and 60 healthy subjects were collected (Takewaki et al.). Fecal samples of 30 healthy subjects were also collected. The 16S rRNA gene V1-V2 regions were PCR-amplified using universal primers (a barcoded 27Fmod and 338R) and, multiplexed amplicon pyrosequencing was carried out using Illumina MiSeq.
