Hesperocyparis macrocarpa, complete chloroplast genome

Hesperocyparis macrocarpa or Cupressus macrocarpa (Cypress) is a versatile hardwood species exhibiting a morphological resemblance to Cupressus tonkinensis, a threatened and endemic species in Vietnam. Due to the near depletion of its gene pool, conservation and development program of Cupressus tonkinensis have been initiated. As part of these efforts, Cypress (locally known as "Hoang dan") has been introduced and cultivated in Vietnam. This study analyzes the complete chloroplast genome of the introduced Cypress cultivated in Thanh Hoa to establish its genetic relationship with other closely taxon, providing a foundation for future gene resource research and development of Cupressus tonkinensis.
