资源简介:
Photograph of the petroglyphs at Verde Valley, Arizona, ca.1900. Stick figures, animal shapes and a variety of other symbols are carved into the canyon wall (or cave wall?). The wall is cracked and has large ripples running through it. Large pieces have eroded from the walls at right.; "The majority of the petroglyphs at this site have well-defined edges and circular 'pecks,' made by hitting a chisel-like stone into the design with a larger hammer stone. This provides a level of precision and artistic clarity. This style is so distinct that it has warranted its own classification, the Beaver Creek Style. It is unique in this area. This is also the largest rock art panel in this area. So far, 1032 individual petroglyphs have been identified in the 13 panels here. They are outstanding examples of the Beaver Creek Style, found throughout the eastern half of Verde Valley. The style is noted for its precise execution.
