High-frequency adaptive mutations in rpfR evolve rapidly in biofilm evolved populations of Burkholderia cenocepacia, modifying its diguanylate cyclase and phosphodiesterase activities that modulate cellular cyclic-di-GMP pool. Transcriptomic analysis was performed on evolved and engineered rpfR mutants grown in biofilm conditions for 16 hours to identify the differences in cellular processes with respect to the wild type.
