Marine sediments collected around the Antarctic Peninsula (Nov-Dec 2020)

This research focused on understanding how communities of microbes on the coastal shelf of Antarctic Pennisula degrade complex organic. The data collected address this focus metagenomic, metatranscriptomic, and geochemical data. Marine sediments were collected around the Antarctic Peninsula (Nov - Dec 2020) with a magacorer. Triplicate cores were sectioned (0-3, 3-6, 6-9, and 9-12cm) and the stored frozen. DNA was extracted from each triplicate and then pooled to be sequenced for WGS metagenomic sequencing. At four locations, the surface samples (0-3cm) were used to extract RNA that was then used to collect metatranscriptomic data (3 replicate extractions and sequencing datasets).
