Urban forest cover data from 1995 to 2020

This data describes the change in urban forest area in China from 1995 to 2020. The European Space Agency Climate Change Initiative (ESA-CCI) land use dataset with a spatial resolution of 300 m was used to define urban areas and woodlands for the period 1995-2020, which was used to define urban areas and woodlands from http://maps.elie.ucl.ac.be/CCI/viewer/ 。 A key aspect of this dataset is its consistency over time and spatial resolution, which makes it possible to study the impact of urbanization on forests. This dataset has been used to identify urban change in previous studies, and we extract China's urban area and woodland cover from the dataset each year, defining the intersection of these two land categories as urban forests. It consists of two main steps, namely (1) reclassifying adjacent urban forest distributions, (2) calculating the differences between the reclassification raster values, and (3) defining changes in urban forest area based on differences.
