Gut microbiota composition during C difficile colonization and infection.. Clostridioides difficile carriership study

Clostridioides difficile infection (CDI) usually develops in a disturbed gut microbiota associated with previous antibiotic use, but the gut microbiota composition in patients asymptomatically coloniszed with C. difficile is not well investigated. Gut microbiota composition from a subset of patients with C. difficile colonization(n=41) and without C. difficile colonization (n=43) was investigated through 16S rRNA gene amplicon sequencing and compared to patients with clinically and microbiologically diagnosed CDI (n=41).
