As of December 31, 2023, private employees accounted for 29 percent of the total registered members of the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation or PhilHealth. Private employees cover half of their premium membership payments while the remaining half is paid by their employers. Under the Universal Health Care Act, all Filipinos are automatically enrolled as a PhilHealth member. The membership covers free medical consultation and lab fees.
