To explore the effects of different stress conditions on Bacillus subtilis str.168, a selection of conditions were applied to the organism and RNA-seq data gathered. A matrix of gene counts was produced as a basis for further analysis into the transcription profiles of Bacillus subtilis str.168. Overall design: Bacillus subtilis str.168 was subjected to the following stress conditions: Diamide, Ethanol, High Temperature, Low Temperature, Glucose to Malate Nutrient Shift, Malate to Glucose Nutrient Shift, Anaerobic Growth, Competence, Stationary Growth. For each condition, a control without the stress was conducted and each experiment has three replicates. This work was funded by the EPSRC, EP/N031962/1.
