The database provides the data and R code used for the statistical analyses and figures in the manuscript "Ecosystem diversity in African savannas is fueled by pyrodiversity" by Víctor Fernández-García, Tercia Strydom, Dave I. Thompson, José Manuel Fernández-Guisuraga and Cristina Santín.
The study analyzes the influence of pyrodiversity (unserstood as the spatial variation in fire frequency) on several dimensions of savanna diversity (structural diversity, functional diversity and taxonomic plant diversity). The study also shows the differential effects of fire frequency on 42 ecosystem variables related to the ecosystem structure, function and plant composition.
The data was collected in 48 plots in the Kruger National Park, specifically in the sites of Mopane, Skukuza and Pretoriuskop. Further methodological details can be accessed in the manuscript or by contacting the corresponding author Víctor Fernández-García (vferg@unileon.es)
