Street View Imagery of Palisades and Eaton Fire, in Development of Street View Imagery from the Palisades and Eaton Fires to Support Future Planning and Preparedness

This dataset contains geolocated 360-degree street view imagery of post-wildfire damage and early recovery across the Palisades Fire and Eaton Fire footprints in Los Angeles, California. Imagery was collected on March 25–26, 2025 using a vehicle-mounted Insta360 Pro 2 camera with GPS tracking. The raw video output was post-processed into equirectangular panoramas, sampled every 4 meters along the 69 miles of survey routes, and recentred to the vehicle-forward direction to standardize orientation. The release includes 12,248 panoramas (Palisades) and 7,526 panoramas (Eaton) with per-image metadata (heading, latitude, longitude, altitude, capture device, timestamp), GPS tracks, and a GIS layer locating each panorama. Quality control and privacy protection were applied via automated face and license-plate blurring prior to publication; limitations are documented in the Quick Response Grant report.

Privacy Disclaimer. This project applies automated detection and blurring to faces and vehicle license plates in street view imagery. However, no automated method is perfect, and occasional false negatives (missed or insufficient blurs) may occur. By using this data, you agree not to identify or attempt to identify individuals. If you observe unblurred faces or license plates, please refrain from use or redistribution and notify the authors, so the images can remediated or removed.

An accompanying open script (image_extraction_tool) enables façade-aligned perspective image extraction linked to building footprints and attributes from the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection Damage Inspection (DINS)database to support analysis and model training.
