Genome sequence of Prevotella intermedia strain 17-2. Prevotella intermedia strain:17-2

Prevotella intermedia, a gram-negative, black-pigmented anaerobic rod, is a pathogen of prulent infection. We report the 2.7 Mb complete genome sequence assembled into 2 chromosomes of P. intermedia strain 17-2 which is a exopolysaccharide (EPS) non-producing variant obtained from EPS producing P. intermedia strain 17 stock cultures. This genome sequence will help us to better understand the mechanisms of EPS productivity and biofilm infection of this organism.
