Red Chittagong Cattle Breeding and Revealing Their Genomic Architecture Through Whole Genome Resequencing. Bos indicus breed:Red Chittagong Cow

Red Chittagong (Bos indicus) is one of the important cattle varieties of Bangladesh. They have unique morphological features, well adapted to agro-climatic condition and therefore, most demanded indigenous cattle variety under semi-intensive farming condition of Bangladesh. The genome resequencing of Red Chittagong will provide valuable information on genome organization, evolutionary divergence, conservation and relatedness among breeds or populations. The aim of this project is to identify some important genes, genomic variants or regions those associated with traits of major economic importance, detection of selection signatures and adaptive alleles. The data will also help to explore evolutionary relationships with closely related cattle populations.
