The missionary is probably Reverend Edward James Ball, the first male missionary of the Peruvian Inland Mission,, who served with his wife Eileen (nee Eileen Davis) in Tarapoto. He is seated on a chair with a tapestry cushion and wears a smart suit with a badge on his lapel. Edward James Ball joined the Peruvian Inland Mission in 1940. Having been brought up in Argentina, he spoke flawless Spanish. This slide comes from a collection created by the Peruvian Inland Mission, an evangelical mission started in 1930 by Miss Annie G Soper in northeast Peru, which was administered by the evangelical interdenominational mission, Regions Beyond Missionary Union from 1948.
