Systematics and biogeography of Dorymyrmex (Hymenoptera: Formicidae)

This project aims to resolve the phylogeny and biogeography of Dorymyrmex and create stable taxonomic definitions, which have remained a puzzle since the original description of the genus in 1866. This work ushers Dorymyrmex into the world of modern-day phylogenomics by targeting ultraconserved elements (UCEs) across the genome and archiving raw sequence reads in a public repository. Taxonomic revisions will integrate this genomic data with traditional morphology and natural history records.
