This dataset consists of four Excel spreadsheet files in <b>.xlsx</b> format and a supplementary file including methodology in <b>.docx</b> format. The data were generated as part of a study which used RNA sequencing to generate transcriptional datasets for wheat (Triticum aestivum) and the pathogen Pyrenophora tritici-repentis (a causal agent of tan spot) during the infection and in vitro pathogen growth stages.<br>The data consists of the following files:<br><b>Data file 1.xlsx: </b>Table of RNA sample collections and statistics for both Triticum aestivum and Pyrenophora tritici-repentis. Four sample IDs for each are provided, with Source Tissue, Condition, Sample (Days Post Leaf-Inoculation), Read Pair, Reference, Read pair alignment, Percent read pair alignment and Genes for each sample.<br><b>Data file 2.xlsx: </b>Wheat gene expression 3 and 4 days post infection, with variables Gene ID, Locus, Status, Control (FPKM), Infection (FPKM) and log2(fold_change).<br><b>Data file 3.xlsx:</b> Pyrenophora tritici-repentis gene expression in planta at days 3 and 4 post infection. 9093 GenBank accession numbers are included with variables Genome position in planta 3 days post infection (FPKM), in planta 4 days post infection (FPKM), log2 (fold change), M4 Gene description and Effectorp probability. The full dataset including 13770 accession numbers with P-values and significance is included in the second tab of the spreadsheet.<br><b>Data file 4.xlsx: </b>Pyrenophora tritici-repentis (isolate M4) gene expression in vitro of vegetative and sporulating mycelia. 10630 accession codes are included with variables Genome position, Vegetative mycelium (FPKM), Sporulating mycelium (FPKM), log2 (fold change), Gene Description and Effectorp probability. The second tab of the spreadsheet includes the P- and Q-values and significance.<br><b>Supplementary file 1.docx: </b>This document contains the material, methods and references which relate to the study.<br>The .<b>xlsx </b>files can be opened using Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets or other open spreadsheet software. The .<b>docx </b>file can be opened using Microsoft Word or open word processing software.<br><br><br><br><br><br>
