Project title: Microbial and metabolic variations mediate the influence of childhood and adolescent EDC and trace element exposure on breast densityThe gut microbiome composition is an indicator of health, a predictor of obesity, and has been suggested to modify estrogen metabolism, all of which may influence breast development including breast density and thereby affect future breast cancer risk. Little is known of the influence of EDCs on the gut microbiome. We are analyzing the gut microbiome in feces of 250 girls as a potential mechanistic link between exposure to environmental EDCs and breast development and density.
