This dataset contains measurements of individual foraminiferal δ¹⁸O (‰ VPDB) (IFA) from Late Holocene core-top sediments at three sites across the tropical Indian Ocean: MD96-2060 (40.46°E, 8.30°S, 2026m), Site NIOP 905 (51.95°E, 10.76°N, 1575m) and IODP Site U1467 (73.17°E, 4.5°N, 487.4 m). Measurements were performed on two planktonic species, Globigerinoides ruber, a surface dweller, and Neogloboquadrina dutertrei, a thermocline species. The file includes data on the number of individuals analysed, the core sample information, age of the core-top, species measured and the individual δ¹⁸O values. This dataset is suitable for quantifying the width and shape of foraminiferal δ¹⁸O distributions as a proxy for Late Holocene variability, to assess a comparison with forward modelling IFA using modern reanalysis products, and for inter-site comparison of surface versus subsurface temperature variance across the Indian Ocean. It also serves as a modern reference for IFA-based paleoclimate reconstructions in the Indian Ocean, particularly in the context of Indian Ocean Dipole and monsoon driven temperature variability at the surface and thermocline.
