Proteome database of Clostridium botulinum AM1195

Clostridium botulinum is the causative agent of many human diseases ranging from food poisoning to infections of wound due largely to the potent neurotoxin, botulinum, that the rod-shaped anaerobic Gram-positive bacterium produces. As such, C. botulinum has attracted much research attention in defining ways for killing the endospores that the bacterium produces under harsh survival conditions as well as understanding its pathogenesis mechanisms. This work sought to provide fundamental proteomic information of this pathogen through parsing the UniProt proteome of C. botulinum AM1195 via an in-house MATLAB proteome analysis software. The resulting proteome database comprises protein name, amino acid sequence, number of residues, molecular weight and nucleotide sequence of protein. Overall, the proteome database of C. botulinum should serve as a useful resource for understanding the proteome repertoire of this pathogen as well as helping to guide experimental efforts (such as genome editing) in delineating its pathogenesis mechanisms.
