Ecological and evolutionary factors underlying the uneven diversification of firs in the Northern Hemisphere. Pinaceae sp.

The Northern Hemisphere harbors a great diversity of temperate plants on the Earth, with species richness in East Asia greatly exceeding that in North America and Europe. We use the genus Abies typically exhibiting such species diversity pattern to untangle the impact of ecological and evolutionary factors and to gain insights into the timing and processes of its origin. All genomic data were used for phylogeny reconstruction, which was based on nuclear-conserved ortholog sequences obtained from Hyb-seq for 58 Abies taxa and three outgroups.
