[C4OC] Three Rivers and Three Creeks Environmental Planning for NRM

The project “Three Rivers Environmental Planning for NRM’ is an investment programme to
facilitate the desire outcomes 2013-2018 for CFOC Sustainable Agriculture stream that
focuses on “Improved planning and capacity for resource management” through the
enhancement of regional stakeholders and partners to improve and build upon capabilities
relating to environmental planning in the SW QLD region.
The “Three Rivers Three creeks Environmental Planning for NRM’ project is aligned to the
CFOC priorities of ‘Improved management of agriculture and fisheries natural resource base’
and ‘Reduced impact of weeds and pests on agriculture’ through the enhancement of regional
land manager entities that are informed, capable and engaged in addressing social cohesion
issues associated to strategic pests, weeds and resource management for environmental
productivity and resilience.
The project investment of “Three Rivers Three creeks Environmental Planning for NRM’
recognizes that there are many groups in south west QLD that work together to achieve the
common objective of reducing the prevalence of pests and weed incident in the 4 catchment of
the Nebine/Mungalalla, the Warrego, the Paroo and the Bulloo, that, in themselves,
compliment improved management of our regional environmental resource base. As the
designated Regional NRM body in SW QLD, SWNRM is well situated to deliver on additional
roles which include acting as the primary interface between community and government,
connecting landholders and community groups with funding and technical expertise, building
capacity in the community and importantly developing the Regional NRM strategy with
alignment to CFOC 2013 2018 prospectus objectives for sustainable agriculture.
