Data Algorithms

The use of the standard written algorithms in primary school is constantly being questioned. While some researchers assert that the rigidity of these algorithms does not favour the development of pupils' thinking, others are of the opinion that these algorithms should be worked on, as long as this is done in combination with other mathematical practices. This study presents a crossnational comparative study of the algorithms-related mathematical identity among preservice and inservice primary teachers in the partner institutions of a specific European higher education project.
