Nitrogen fertiliser application rate alters the fungal communities

Fungi plays important roles in soil microbial communities as decomposers, plant symbionts and pathogens. The structure of rhizosphere fungal communities is the result of complex interactions between many different selection factors. Using culture-independent fungal community profiling, we investigated the effects of chemical fertilizer doses on fungal communities of field-grown sugarcane rhizosphere and soil. The results show that the concentration of chemical fertilizer is a factor that modifies the composition but not the abundance of fungal communities.
