Vehicle fleet of the cantonal administration Zurich

The data include the vehicle stock and its CO2 emissions on the one hand and the newly purchased vehicles and their propulsion technology on the other.
According to “Information on the emission reduction of vehicles in procurement and operation by the cantonal administration and contractors” (RRB No 949/2021), passenger cars and light commercial vehicles must be procured with an in-service CO2-free propulsion, provided that the operational, technical and strategic requirements are met. For heavy-duty vehicles, CO2-free drives must be tested. In this way, the cantonal vehicle fleet in the passenger car segment from 2030 and the cantonal police duty cars as well as light and heavy-duty commercial vehicles will no longer emit CO2 from 2040 onwards. As part of the success check, an annual monitoring report is to be prepared from the procurement year 2022 by the directors of the Construction and Safety Directorate. The available data on the total stock, mileage, emissions, and newly purchased vehicles and their propulsion technology were collected for this monitoring report.
The data are updated annually so that there is a historicalised time series.
