资源简介:
All bird species were observed on September 28. 2015. The weather was 22 degrees celcius with an overcast (cloudy) day after a rainfall. The barometer read 101.76 kPa, and the windspeed was 15 Km/hour SSW. All birds were observed and counted either near the Stong Pond grassland or, in or near the Saywell Woodlot. Five specific sites within each of these two habitats were chosen randomly with no particular procedure/protocol. In all 10 sites, a transect measuring 50 meters by 50 meters wide and a height of unlimited (to the sky), were set as parameters. Any individual bird that entered these parameters was counted and recorded in the dataset, distance from the transect was not taken into consideration. The total sum of the number of individuals of each species observed was recorded as the “Frequency of # of Birds”, and the total number of species was recorded as the “Richness of Bird Species”. All observations were made using a pair of binoculars, and by walking around the parameters of the transects for 5 minutes.
