VPRS 3678 Register of Realisation of Assets, Closer and Discharged Soldiers Settlement Acts.

Both the Closer Settlement Act and the Discharged Soldiers Settlement Act had stringent provisions requiring the repayment of advances made to a settler, even if the lease held was cancelled or forfeited. As part of attempting to secure repayment the Closer Settlement Board (from 1932 Commission) was able to sell any stock, tools and or equipment owned and used by the settler. This series contains details of this disposal of the property of closer and soldier settlers in a number of districts.The name of the former lessee was given with the details of the location and extent of the land leased as well as the file number and the name of the responsible Inspector. The assets were then listed being the animals, tools or equipment with the Inspector's valuation, how the item was disposed of (usually sold or transferred to another settler), details of any cash sales and of the amount realised by the transfer of ownership, the date of the disposal and the source of any particulars. these might be Inspector's Reports (T.R.), Returns (B) or the Stock in Hand Return (S.R).VPRS 3678 / P was previously titled Mallee District Register of Discharged Soldiers and Closer Settlement Properties Disposed of.
