The Exeter Archival Diabetes Biobank (EADB)This archival tissue bank holds formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded tissues taken from persons dying from type 1 diabetes, predominantly under the age of 20 years. It also includes relevant control tissue from individuals without diabetes, and those with other pancreatic diseases, including type 2 diabetes, cystic fibrosis, and pancreatitis. The tissue collection was originally compiled by Professor Alan Foulis (NHS Royal Infirmary Glasgow) but has since transferred to the University of Exeter. In total, the collection consists of limited material from 169 Type 1 diabetes patients, 177 non-diabetic controls, and select Type 2 diabetes and Cystic Fibrosis cases.
