Gut microbiome studies on children with severe malaria using 16S rRNA sequencing

The gut microbiome has been implicated in severe malaria pathogenesis in murine models. It remains unknown if the gut microbiome contributes to the pathogenesis of severe malaria in children. We analyzed gut bacteria populations in stool samples from Ugandan children <5 years-old with severe malaria and community children using 16S rRNA sequencing for MVRSION analysis.
