Bacillus amyloliquefaciens strain FZB42 was isolated from soil, and is a member of a group of free-living soil bacteria known to promote plant growth and suppress plant pathogens. The genome sequence of this organism will allow analysis of the production and regulation of these and other potentially useful compounds.
