N. terpenica IFM 0406 (formerly N. brasiliensis IFM 0406) is known to produce a suite of highly bioactive secondary metabolites, such as potent immunosuppressive compound brasilicardin. The N. terpenica sequencing project is carried out by the members of the ERA-IB 5 project ´NeBrasCa´ (2015-2017) which aims at the biotechnological development of brasilicardin as a novel immunosuppressive drug.
