Diapause is a physiological adaptation that allows an organism to survive adverse environmental conditions. Sunn pest, Eurygaster integriceps (Heteroptera: Scutelleridae), is an important graminaceous crop pest and causing severe damage to the crop especially wheat. Disruption of adult reproductive diapause may be a valuable tool in pest management of Sunn pest. However, the molecular mechanisms regulating adult reproductive diapause in this species have not yet been elucidated, because of the lack of genomic information. We use high-throughput RNA-Seq technique by transcriptomics analysis to gain insight into genetically mechanisms of diapause induction, identify candidate genes and processes linked to adult reproductive diapause.This study provides valuable information about the Sunn pest transcriptome for future gene function research, especially as it relates to diapause and candidate pathways for studying metabolism and hormonal control of diapause in this pest.
