The skin is constantly exposed to viral pathogens, but whether they contribute to the oncogenesis of rare skin cancers has not been systematically explored. We enriched viral nucleic acids from Digital Papillary Adenocarcinoma (DPA) using an NGS-based hybridization-capture approach and identified human papillomavirus 42 (HPV42) in all tumor samples.
