Growth inhibition and transcriptional effects of ribavirin in lymphoma

The cutaneous T-cell lymphoma Hut78 was treated with ribavirin for 120 h, and the gene expression of the treated cells was compared with respect to the expression of the cells without treatment. We evaluated the effect of treatment with ribavirin upon gene expression in a cutaneous T-cell lymphoma model, Hut78. Ribavirin treatment decreased approximately 90% of the viability of Hut78 cells. A complete genomic analysis of transcriptomic status after treatment with ribavirin of cutaneous T cell lymphoma Hut78 revealed an impact on the overall expression of transcripts. We analyzed expression profile of the Hut78 cell line after treatment with ribavirin versus cells without treatment, using the Affymetrix Human Transcriptome Array 2.0 platform. Array data was processed by Affymetrix Exon Array Computational Tool.
