Association Between Ultrasound-Guided PTH Washout and Morphologic Features of Parathyroid Adenomas in Primary Hyperparathyroidism

This dataset originates from a retrospective study evaluating the association between ultrasound-guided parathyroid hormone washout (PTH-WO) levels and the ultrasonographic characteristics of parathyroid adenomas in patients with primary hyperparathyroidism (PHPT). The study includes 128 parathyroid adenomas from 122 patients who underwent fine-needle aspiration biopsy (FNAB) with PTH-WO testing between January 2022 and August 2024. The dataset contains anonymized patient-level data including demographics, biochemical parameters, ultrasonographic findings (B-mode and Doppler features), lesion size, and PTH-WO values. The main objective was to determine whether lesion morphology, especially size and cystic composition, influences PTH-WO results. The findings highlight that PTH-WO levels are significantly associated with lesion size and the presence of cystic components but are not correlated with grayscale or Doppler ultrasound features such as echogenicity or vascularity. The dataset supports the use of PTH-WO as a reliable and cost-effective diagnostic method in cases where conventional imaging modalities are inconclusive.
