资源简介:
A color postcard of the Mission Play entitled, "Excommunication of the Comandante, Second Act," San Gabriel, California, USA, circa 1920s. Published by Pacific Novelty Company, San Francisco and Los Angeles, California, USA. The actor who plays the comandante stands at the left and wears a black uniform, hat, and knee-high boots. He looks taken aback and faces a Franciscan priest who stands at the center by a wood chair. The priest has his left arm out and his right arm up in the air. An American Indian couple embrace at the far right while a group of priests and soldiers stand across the back, many of whom react to the scene in front of them. The set across the background consists of an arched portico with a red tile roof, a tree, and an ivy cross. The title of the image is at the top left while at the right is "MISSION PLAY, SAN GABRIEL, CAL.," all in black ink. On the center of the back is the name, location, and logo of the Pacific Novelty Company. At the top right is a square box for postage. The artifact was found within an envelope, which is item .1, along with more postcards that are items .2-.9 and .11. The object is in good condition with only minor abrasions at the corners.
