GelCam datasets from EXPORTS NP & NA
收藏资源简介:
This dataset contains processed GelCam particle morphology data from NASA EXPORTS deployments in the subarctic North Pacific and North Atlantic. GelCam is an upward-facing underwater camera system mounted beneath a gel-based sediment trap, where sinking particles are preserved in polyacrylamide gel and imaged through time. The submitted SeaBASS files include particle-level measurements extracted from processed images, including area, centroid, bounding box, major and minor axis lengths, perimeter, and circularity. The dataset includes ten deployments: nine from the EXPORTS North Pacific cruise aboard R/V Roger Revelle and one from the EXPORTS North Atlantic cruise aboard R/V James Cook. These data support analyses of sinking particle size, morphology, and temporal accumulation patterns. Processing steps included color decomposition, background removal, threshold-based particle detection, calibration-based distortion correction, and extraction of particle morphology metrics. Users should consider image quality limitations, platform tilt, particle overlap, and lighting effects when interpreting the data.
